Nestled in the charming town of Toyako, Toya Soba emerges as a delightful café that captivates with its fresh, locally inspired offerings. This eatery expertly blends Japanese culinary traditions with a tranquil atmosphere, making it an ideal stop for both the weary traveler and the curious foodie alike.

The café specializes in authentic Soba noodles, pasta made from buckwheat that is crafted fresh every morning by a skilled Japanese chef. The standout dish is the かしわ塩ラーメン (Chicken Salt Ramen) served with a rich chicken and clam soup—a delightful fusion that offers depth and complexity in every sip, making it a favorite for patrons looking for comfort food. Pair it with the 伊達産黄金豚の豚丼セット (Kogane Pork Bowl), a succulent pork dish that comes complete with a warm soup and a refreshing drink, all for just JP¥1,000.

What enhances the experience is the café's serene ambiance. With options for outdoor seating that overlook the picturesque Lake Toya, you can savor your meal while enjoying the gentle breezes and stunning scenery. The interior is cozy and stylish, reflecting the warmth of its staff who are known for their exceptional service. As one reviewer noted, the relaxed vibe combined with the village's tranquility makes it a perfect retreat away from the bustling tourist spots.

Drinks and desserts further elevate the experience. Enjoy a creamy タピオカミルクティー (Tapioca Milk Tea) or a refreshing smoothie featuring tempting flavors like banana, peach, and strawberry. For those with a sweet tooth, the selection of viennoiseries is not to be missed. One happy customer shared their delight in the home-baked goods, particularly the delicious pumpkin soup that is both hearty and comforting.

Patrons have applauded the café for its dedication to quality ingredients, saying that the gluten-free Soba and galettes are noteworthy—and the coffee and cakes keep guests coming back for more. From cycling groups to families enjoying a day out, Toya Soba has earned its place as a beloved gem in Lake Toya's culinary scene.

If you're in the area, don't miss out on this culinary sanctuary. Your taste buds will thank you, and your soul will bask in the beauty of Toyako. Whether you choose to indulge in a warm bowl of ramen or savor the lightness of a crepe, you’re in for a delicious treat that reflects the heart and soul of Hokkaido’s dining culture.

Who can ever guess that in that little and calm town would be a place where they serve sarasin crepes with fresh vegetables and free running egg ! It tasted so good and the vienoiserie I tasted after was just The pumpkin soup was really good too ! The guy has a great English seems he had been abroad (he even guessed we were French so no wonder that his sarasin crepes was so good !) Let pictures talk for themselves

A lovely spot in Lake Toya run by the owners of The Lake house at Toyako! They have a Japanese chef that makes fresh buckwheat noodles every morning - the noodles had a nice texture, tempura was fresh and the wagyu beef rice was excellent too. The place has a chill vibe with outdoor seating and also serve crepes which was a nice option for the kids who wanted something other than Japanese food. We will be back for sure !

Cafe lake Toya is a great location on the north side of the lake. Away from the hustle and bustle of hotels, it is a nice spot for a meal and a wander next to the water. They’ll tell you that the hashed beef (hayashi rice) is recommended, and it’s pretty good, but on our visit the buckwheat Breton galette and the almost croissant were the stars. Small staff, so good may not be fast if it’s busy, but good quality and not overly expensive.

Welcome addition to the Lake Toya neighborhood and community. Fresh gluten free Soba and Galette’s served in a stylish atmosphere from a professional and helpful staff. Excellent coffee drinks, cakes and ice cream make this a must visit stop when visiting the area. Our cycling group enjoyed the experience and will definitely return!

The buckwheat soba noodles are a speciality and excellent. We followed up with a lemon meringue pie and carrot cake with plenty of coffee and chai tea. A must stop.

Great cafe across from the tourist center. Very homey atmosphere. Awesome coffees and baked goods. The galettes are large and very filling. Carbonara is simple and delicious. Everything on the menu is extremely reasonable and would recommend anyone visiting to stop by

Nice cafe to have lunch at after a bike ride round the lake that is located across the road from mizu no eki. The soba with wild garlic tempura is delicious and also had a cookie, and came back again another day to try the galette. Great place if looking for gluten free options, and they had some vegetarian options too!
